I've never really been into wedding florals. They're so expensive. I always thought that candles, paper lanterns and white lights would add enough so the florals could be understated.
Shopping for your flowers by season and sustainably is always a good idea too. Pay attention to what is blooming that season and try to get what you need within 100 miles from your location. If you have something that is in season the florist will have less of a hassle obtaining the product which means less stress for you. Just because something is easy doesn't mean it can't be beautiful. What is really essential is finding a florist with three dimensional talent, they should know how to arrange flowers, have an extensive knowledge of plants and know what is local and sustainable.
If you're Flower OBSESSED then plan your wedding in a garden and pick your date during flowering season, then your floral expenses are included in your location budget. You may be able to hold the whole event at the garden which means no worry about getting around and a great place for pictures... Guaranteed to be a very romantic venue. Cheers!
I do have a couple of ideas for my flowers. My cousin grows tons and tons of Dahlias every year and they never sell them but give them away... Maybe... I should probably find the right guy first, fall in love and find out if he's allergic to flowers...
